Communications Specialist

Location:  Administrative (Corporate)

Exempt status

Position Summary

  • Manages Hawaii Care Choices external and internal communications. 

  • Promotes a positive public image and controls the dissemination of information on the company’s behalf.

  • Writes articles, speech, interviews, and notices for company newsletter, email or publication.

  • Contributes to brainstorming sessions that are collaborative in nature and may involve various departments organization wide (such as information content related to a new program launch).

Skill & Knowledge Requirements

  • Phenomenal communication and copywriting skills.

  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude a must.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by seamless conversations with a diverse group of people.

  • Demonstrates solid understanding of project management principles.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other photo/video editing software.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.

  • Proficient command of English grammar rules.

  • Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining productivity.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing or similar major.

  • 2 years minimum experience in communications, copywriting and editing.

  • Healthcare media experience a plus.


  • Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a half-hour lunch break. 

  • Duties may occasionally require after hour work including weekends as needed
