Position Summary
The IT Specialist supports all aspects of the organization’s technology infrastructure. This role is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of hardware, software, networks, databases, and web resources. The IT Specialist provides technical support and training to staff, ensuring effective and secure use of technology across the organization. Duties also include installing and configuring computer systems, peripherals, and software, and responding to helpdesk requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor networking equipment and servers as assigned.

Assists the Manager with the design, implementation, and ongoing support of new software and features.

Assists with troubleshooting system errors.

Provides helpdesk support for network issues.

Assists with technical support via phone, remote access or site visits as needed.

Respond to IT issues; hardware maintenance, software, networking, etc. as requested.

Assists with evaluation of connectivity issues, equipment, and software.

Assists with set up of equipment for new users.

Install and update network system improvements as needed.

Assist with Servers, LAN/WAN technologies, computer repair/troubleshooting software, networks, virus protection, Wi-Fi technology, and more.

Assists with regulation of network systems for optimal operation.

Assists with troubleshooting computer software/hardware problems to ensure its running properly.

Instrumental in detecting and preventing potential IT issues and security breaches.

Assists with improving business automation to increase efficiency and accuracy for users.

Educate and support staff in proper use of hardware and software tools.

Inventory management of technology and technology related equipment. (Includes resourcing, ordering and installations).

Supports the Manager in ensuring all licensure, software & hardware are up-to-date and functioning.

Keeps updated on current regulatory requirements related to IT as well as best practice.

Assists with implementing and maintaining firewalls and lines of security to mitigate breaches.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Competent working knowledge/skills with a range of software and hardware types including healthcare related.

Training and experience in communication systems, networks, internet, intranet development, data encryption and security.

Ability to use sound judgment in decision making and problem solving by utilizing resource materials and communication with others.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizes, and manages time efficiently.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve multiple issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Up-to-date knowledge of new systems, information, software, and upgrades.

Believes in the hospice philosophy and can represent the hospice program of care accurately.

Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in cooperation with others.

Ability to reason, and analyze.
Education & Experience Requirements
-
High School Diploma required; Associates or Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. I.T. related certification and years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare environment or equivalent position.

Operates phone system, computer hardware, calculator, printer, facsimile, copiers and other standard office equipment.

Frequent use of own personal motor vehicle to run errands as directed.
Hours
-
Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a half-hour lunch break.

Duties may require after-hour work, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Pay $63,487 - $66,560/annually
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
