Honoring the Generosity and Craftsmanship of Irene Ifuko Awong

ree

In loving memory of Irene Ifuko Awong (née Sugiyama), her family celebrates the selfless, caring spirit that defined her life — and the legacy she left through her hands.

Irene was known for putting others first. Whether sharing her last piece of chicken or making sure everyone felt welcomed and cared for, she lived by the values of humility, kindness, and generosity. That compassion continues to shine through her beautiful, handcrafted donations.

Every stitch was stitched by Irene herself. In tribute to her memory, her family recently delivered:

81 blankets, 212 washcloths, 60 scarves, 2 lap blankets, and 1 keiki hat — all hand-knitted with love by Irene before her passing.

These treasured items will now wrap hospice patients and their loved ones in warmth, offering both comfort and a gentle reminder that one person’s caring hands can touch so many.

We are deeply grateful to receive these heartfelt gifts. Irene’s legacy of compassion will live on in every handmade stitch.
