Wednesday, December 14th from 5:30 – 7:00pm, on the lawn of Hawai`i Care Choices Pōhai Mālama Care Center (590 Kapi`olani Street) in Hilo will be the location of the Season of Light - a special Mahalo Celebration free and open to the community. “This year’s
Season of Light will focus on the unconditional gratitude we have for all of our patients, families, donors, volunteers, and local businesses who support us each and every year, “ says Helene Andrew, Clinical Services Director of Hawai’i Care Choices.
The in-person gathering is to honor the triumph and resiliency of our community. The Season of Light event illuminates our hope that good things are ahead, while taking a moment to be grateful for all we have and for all we have overcome. “The last two and a half year s of the COVID 19 pandemic added untold challenges to the specialized care we provide. However with the support of our community, we are thankfully stronger because of it,” exclaimed CEO, Brenda Ho. “Serving our families during their highest time of need continues to be both a privilege and honor for all of us.”
Please join us and let the Season of Light fill you with hopes and promises of a New Year! There will be holiday crafts, keepsake ornament making, holiday carols, and amazing performances by Kamehameha Schools Keiki Choir and Dancers, along with festive cookies, treats and of course, a delightful visit from our Hawaiian Santa who will bring his fishpond filled with special surprises. Also, everyone is invited to take a moment to add their own memorial ornament to our “Light up a Life Tree,” and to pose for a keepsake photo.
Free parking will be available at two locations: (1) Christ Lutheran Church - 595 Kapi’olani; (2) Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission - 216 Mohouli St. While this will be outdoors, masks are kindly recommended. Donations are always sincerely welcome and appreciated. For more information, please go to www.hawaiicarechoices/SeasonOfLight
